2017 Wayne County Career Fair

Four representatives from Wayne ARC (Jeanna Rouland, Susan Langenfeld, Colby O'Brien, and Jessica Blondell) attended the Wayne County Career Fair to speak with eighth grade students about potential careers working with people who have developmental and intellectual disabilities.

Students tried to talk with multiple marshmallows in their mouth to represent what it would feel like to have a speaking disability for someone we might serve at Wayne ARC.

Our employees spoke to students about what it's like to work at Wayne ARC and also what it would be like to have a disability of some kind to help them understand a new point of view. We had a lot of great feedback from students as they learned how hard it is for some people to effectively communicate in the ways they sometimes want to.
